The games will be played between March and April of 2026.

FIFA announced that the Series 2026 will take place between March and April of next year during the international window.

This will provide national teams from different continents with a special platform to compete and connect outside of their conventional confederation boundaries.

The FIFA Series 2026 represents the first full-scale execution of a project that is being built on the success of the pilot edition conducted in March 2024.

It will include more hosts, more Participating Member Associations (PMAs), and a dedicated women’s version for the first time. The enlarged format is intended to enable more significant international games and directly support the growth of football worldwide.

Strategic Objectives for the Global Game: 2023–2027, which emphasise increasing chances for competitive balance, technological advancement, and cross-continental interchange, are in line with the FIFA Series 2026. For national teams that don’t often play opponents from other continents, the format offers a route.

“The FIFA Series is about unlocking development potential for players, coaches and fans, while promoting football’s universality and diversity through meaningful matches. The 2026 edition will further enhance that impact for men’s and women’s football alike,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“By connecting nations through competition, the FIFA Series aims to strengthen the game at every level – bringing local communities to the global stage.”

They have declared the competition’s broad format and the increasing number of confirmed hosts, even as interest in participation is expanding worldwide.

Who are the hosts for FIFA Series 2026?

Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, and Uzbekistan will host a number of significant games in the men’s FIFA Series 2026.

Additionally, talks are moving forward with other FIFA Member Associations (MAs) that could become additional host countries in the upcoming months. Events in Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire, and Thailand will mark the launch of the women’s Series.

In order to foster meaningful footballing engagement without adding matches to the international match schedule, each group in the series will feature national sides from several confederations in a friendly-match format.

Beyond the field, the Series 2026 benefits PMAs by allowing them to compete against teams from different regions:

  • Technical growth through exposure to new playing styles and tactical identities,
  • Commercial opportunities thanks to increased visibility for emerging football nations and untapped markets in new event locations, and
  • Cultural exchange by fostering global connections through the shared language of football.
