Bayern Munich are in the middle of a club rebuild after a disappointing season.

After an underwhelming last season, Bayern Munich will hope to return to the pinnacle of club football both on the domestic and international circuits under new coach Vincent Kompany.

Bayern Munich have been very active in the transfer market, already completing substantial business. This includes big-name signings such as Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart, João Palhinha from Fulham, and Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, for a total of close to €130m.

The Bavarians are expected to sign more players this summer in what looks like a proper club rebuild from top to bottom as a result of a substandard previous campaign. With that said, here are the five players who might join Bayern Munich this summer:

Désiré Doué (Stade Rennais/France/€30.00m)

One of the potential signings that could play a key role in future seasons for Bayern Munich is the talented French winger Désiré Doué.

The 19-year-old winger enjoyed a breakout campaign at Stade Rennais last season, making 43 appearances across all competitions and recording an impressive four goals and six assists in the process. He was one of the shining bright spots in an otherwise disappointing Rennais team that finished tenth in Ligue 1.

With Désiré Doué still being quite raw in his overall style of play, Bayern could prove to be the perfect developmental centre for him to unlock his full potential.

Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig/Spain/€60.00m)

RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo enjoyed a stellar end to the summer as he guided Spain to Euro 2024 glory through his incredible performances. With three goals and two assists to his name, Olmo won the Golden Boot award at the European Championships.

In an injury-ridden 2023–24 season, the 26-year-old Spaniard made just 25 appearances for Leipzig across all competitions, registering great numbers of eight goals and five assists in the process.

Despite his €60 million release clause expiring, Dani Olmo remains a firm option in Bayern Munich’s transfer activity plans this summer.

Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer 04 Leverkusen/Netherlands/€50.00m)

Jeremie Frimpong was one of the best fullbacks in the world last season, as he played an instrumental role in Bayer Leverkusen’s invincible domestic campaign and an incredible run to the Europa League final.

The 23-year-old wingback was a key contributor both in attack and defense, as he made 47 appearances across all competitions, recording a staggering 14 goals and 12 assists in the process. His unbelievable partnership with left-back Alejandro Grimaldo guided Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title in history.

With the Bavarians open to selling Noussair Mazraoui this summer, Jeremie Frimpong could prove to be the perfect signing for the present and the future of the club.

Xavi Simons (PSG/Netherlands/€80.00m)

With a permanent move away from PSG looking less likely, Dutch sensation Xavi Simons could well and truly join the Bundesliga giants this summer on a loan deal.

After his stellar last two loan spells at PSV Eindhoven and RB Leipzig, respectively, Simons has taken the football world by storm through his incredible performances. In his most recent loan spell at Leipzig, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder registered 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.

Xavi Simons carried his red-hot form into Euro 2024, as he was one of the standout players for Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands, accumulating one goal and three assists during their impressive semifinal run.

Jonathan Tah (Bayer 04 Leverkusen/Germany/€30.00m)

One of the best defenders in the Bundesliga last season was German centre-back Jonathan Tah, who was a stalwart in defense during Bayer Leverkusen’s historic title triumph.

Under coach Xabi Alonso, Tah enjoyed a career-defining campaign, making 48 appearances across all competitions and recording six goals and one assist in the process.

His rock-solid displays guided Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal trophy. The 28-year-old defender also made four appearances for Die Mannschaft during Euro 2024.

With Matthijs de Ligt close to an exit from Bayern Munich this summer, Jonathan Tah could serve as the ideal proven replacement walking in through the front doors.
