Top three forwards Manchester United should target in 2025 summer transfer window

The Red Devils will need a prolific striker for next season.
Manchester United are going to have a busy summer window. The club are set to revamp their squad and bring in new players who can help challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Despite the arrival of Ruben Amorim, the club have further displayed sluggish performance. They are in 14th place in the league. Their inability to win matches is mainly due to their strikers’ failing to score goals this season.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund is enduring one of his worst seasons at the club. Hence, United’s first priority will be bringing a top centre-forward who can bring experience in the No.9 role. With this, we take a look at three forwards Manchester United can sign in the 2025 summer transfer window.
3. Matheus Cunha
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United are “leading the race” to sign Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, with the Red Devils currently negotiating personal terms.
Conversely, since the Portuguese manager succeeded Erik ten Hag in November, Man Utd’s standards and results have stagnated under Ruben Amorim.
Since the current generation of players finds it difficult to adjust to Amorim’s mindset and tactics, he wants players who fit his high-energy style.
Cunha is now “inching closer” to joining Manchester United after the Brazilian was convinced by Amorim’s project for next season.
2. Rayan Cherki
Rayan Cherki, a sensation for Lyon, has a bargain release clause. Manchester United are considering a move for him.
Cherki has been in incredible form for Lyon in the 2024–25 season, scoring 12 goals and dishing out 18 assists in 39 games across all competitions. In the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals, he had an outstanding performance versus United, scoring goals in both legs of the match.
Cherki has a deal that expires in 2026. The Daily Mail claims that the agreement also includes a verbal release clause for £25 million (€29.2 million, $33 million).
1. Victor Osimhen
Despite claims in Turkey that personal terms have been agreed upon, Manchester United have not increased their interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Osimhen is thought to have been targeted by the Red Devils this summer as a possible attacking addition to Ruben Amorim. But they are not yet making any progress in talks with the club or his agents.
United will likely wait to see how their UEFA Europa League journey plays out and whether they can qualify for the UEFA Champions League by winning the competition. They are still focused on the current campaign.
