France haven’t looked at their best in this tournament but managed to finish in second position in their group. Drawn with Netherlands, Austria and Poland, Les Bleus remained unbeaten throughout the group stage. They started their tenure with a narrow victory over Austria in the opening match followed by draws with Netherlands and Poland.

However, Didier Deschamps’s team lacked their attacking edge after scoring just two goals in the group stage. With the round of 16 competition at its peak, they will have to be at their brilliant best to reach the quarter-final. 

Belgium bounced back impressively to book their place in the last 16 after losing the opening match against Slovakia. The Red Devils secured victory in the second match over Romania followed by a goalless draw against Ukraine in the final match.

Mbappe’s ability to get past defenders at ease by making timely runs and his clinical finishing make him a dangerous weapon for the team.

With him in the side, France can exploit the Belgium backline who have had two clean sheets in a row lately. Before starting business in the kit of Real Madrid, Mbappe has the chance to win a trophy with the national team. 

Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium)

Kevin De Bruyne has been the standout player for Belgium in the group stage. He scored a crucial goal against Romania in the second match that secured their passage into the last 16. His creativity and vision have helped the team in making goal-scoring chances.

De Bruyne finished the group stage creating 11 chances for the team while also helping the team defensively. He made 14 recoveries in three matches while winning 22 duels. With France maintaining a low block, he will be crucial in unlocking the defence.
