Real Madrid star Franco Mastantuono suffers pubalgia

Mastantuono joined Los Blancos from River Plate.
Since arriving in Spain, Real Madrid‘s young sensation Franco Mastantuono has faced his first significant obstacle.
The 18-year-old Argentine’s diagnosis of a sports hernia (pubalgia), a painful and tenacious ailment that may prevent him from playing for an extended period of time, was confirmed by the club on Monday.
“After the examinations carried out today on our player Franco Mastantuono by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sports hernia (pubalgia). Pending evolution,” the club stated on its official website.
Pubalgia affects training, movement, and even shooting technique, making it more than just a persistent injury for elite athletes.
Madrid fans hit with major injury news
Madrid supporters, who have been raving about the Argentine’s seamless transition since joining from River Plate, will be irritated by the news.
After Franco Mastantuono showed promise at the start of the new season and during training, his recovery time is now unknown.
In addition to being unpleasant, pubalgia is infamously unpredictable. If left untreated, it can develop into a persistent problem that plagues a person’s career.
Lamine Yamal, Barcelona‘s own teenage sensation, has picked up a similar injury.
Can pubalgia injury affect your career?
In recent months, Yamal has been battling the same ailment. Spanish media have cautioned that if the young winger’s condition doesn’t get better, surgery may be necessary. For elite athletes who depend on explosive movement and swift rotations, the dramatic label of “incurable” injury has been applied by some outlets.
It’s difficult to overlook the similarities between Franco Mastantuono and Yamal: both young sensations, the future of their respective teams, and the same old foe that tormented previous stars—from Lionel Messi in his youth to Toni Kroos, Sergio Busquets, and Kaká later in their careers—slowed them down.
Although Madrid have not provided a timetable for Mastantuono’s recovery, perseverance and appropriate rehabilitation will be essential.
What is pubalgia injury?
It is a chronic groin pain injury caused by a strain or tear in the soft tissues of the lower abdomen or groin.
Is pubalgia a career-ending injury?
It’s not a career-ending injury, but it could shorten careers or even derail someone’s career.
When will Franco Mastantuono return from injury?
The club haven’t confirmed his return timeline.
