Currently, Lee Carsley is appointed as interim coach of the Three Lions.

England remain in the hunt for a new manager after Gareth Southgate decided to leave the post following their 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Meanwhile, the Three Lions have made Lee Carsley their interim coach. Under him, the national team has produced promising results. But they soon will have to find a permanent replacement for Southgate. Plenty of names have emerged in connection to this role.

Frank Lampard is one of the frontrunners to become England’s next head coach. Alongside him, the English football chiefs have held talks with other managers as well. As per reports the former Chelsea head coach is in the four-man shortlist.

Graham Potter and Eddie Howe remain other options while Pep Guardiola will be a dream appointment for the FA. It will be tough to prize away Guardiola from Manchester City despite his contract set to expire after the end of the season.

FA also approached Jurgen Klopp but the former Liverpool manager turned down the opportunity. Mauricio Pochettino was another candidate but he took the United States men’s national team job.

Lampard has remained unemployed after his interim role with Chelsea in May 2023. He oversaw a short stint following Potter’s departure. After that, he has been without a job.

Many might not like to see Lampard appointed as England’s manager given his managing background at previous clubs. Lampard has struggled to make an impression in his managing tenure.

He has managed the likes of Everton and Chelsea but failed to show his management acumen. If he is appointed as the Three Lions head coach then it surely will raise concerns for the fans. It won’t go down well among them.

England also have other options with Howe and Potter. They could be a good choice. Howe has shown his managing credentials at Newcastle United while Potter also announced himself when he was managing Brighton & Hove Albion.

Carsley’s interim spell is set to end in November. The FA will have to find the perfect manager sooner rather than later. One who can finally break the trophy jinx of the national team and bring home a trophy.
