Gareth Southgate now favourite to become next Manchester United manager: Report

The Red Devils will make a call on Erik ten Hag’s future after the FA Cup final
With present England coach Gareth Southgate being named as the “top target” to succeed Erik ten Hag at Manchester United after the current campaign comes to an end, the Red Devil’s search for a possible successor in the summer looks to have advanced significantly.
The current Red Devils coach has had difficulties recently in both the FA Cup and the Premier League. With just two victories and four draws in their previous ten top-flight contests, United have fallen like a rock from sixth place with a remote chance of reaching the Champions League to finishing as the second-favourite to earn a spot in the Europa Conference League. In the majority of their draws, United have been very lucky to have learned anything from the contest.
According to reports, Southgate is United’s first choice for a new head coach. Erik ten Hag is also expected to quit the team at the end of the current campaign following a string of subpar performances.
Although a contract has not yet been agreed upon for his services, it is anticipated that one will be reached sooner rather than later given England will be competing at EURO 2024 in less than two weeks and that United will be heading to Wembley for the FA Cup final in two weeks.

The Red Devils would ideally like to finalise the agreement in the upcoming weeks so that Southgate can be named following EURO 2024 and England can concentrate on the competition as they attempt to win their first major title in 58 years.
Southgate, who was recently called “criminally underrated,” is the leader United chiefs believe is the most suitable for the revamp. He has been known to get the best out of players like Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, and Marcus Rashford in the past, and he recently gave Kobbie Mainoo his international debut. Earlier reports indicate that this is a factor that would work in his favour.
