Germany announce squad for 2024 September international break
The Die Mannschaft will face Hungary and Netherlands in the Nations League
Germany‘s team for their two Nations League matches during the 2024 September international break has been revealed by the DFB.
Leroy Sané and Antonio Rüdiger are the only ones not present because they are still working on their fitness at their respective clubs. With the exception of them, the team remains largely unchanged from Germany’s EURO 2024 campaign, in which they were eliminated by eventual victors Spain in the quarterfinals.
Since the defeat in Stuttgart, there have undoubtedly been retirements from Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gündogan, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer.
The two players who are back on the team are Alexander Nübel and Aleksander Pavlovic. Prior to the event, Nübel was removed from the preliminary team for EURO 2024, while Emre Can took Pavlovic’s position after he missed the competition due to tonsillitis.
One of the players who can mitigate the effects of Kroos’ retirement is Angelo Stiller of VfB Stuttgart, who is the sole rookie on the team.
Germany’s two Nations League matches are in Düsseldorf on Saturday against Hungary, and then they travel over the border to Amsterdam on Tuesday to play rivals the Netherlands.
There are many fresh faces after the retirement of veteran players which has paved the way for other young German players who will be eager to prove their mettle in the Nations League, which Germany are yet to win.
