Julian Nagelsmann’s first task is to deal with the Tartan Army.

This Friday marks the official start of Euro 2024 as hosts Germany takes on Scotland in a tantalising first match in Munich.

After winning big against France and the Netherlands in his first seven games in charge, Julian Nagelsmann’s team appears to have found a formula that might make them strong candidates to win the Euro 2024 championship.

Nagelsmann had announced his final squad of 26 men after a few players were removed from the provisional group before the competition. The competition is now only a few days away.

Basing his choices on his tenure thus far, the head coach started their penultimate warm-up encounter against Ukraine with a structure and lineup that were mostly expected considering the players available. In the final friendly before Euro, the Germans defeated Greece 2-1.

Germany injury news vs Scotland

Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t have any major injury concerns as Germany looks to bounce back from their previous tournament setbacks and perform well at home.

Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich are likely to start behind Ilkay Gundogan, who is the most advanced midfield player. Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala will start wide. Leroy Sane would then have to make do with a bench spot.

Leroy Sané has been suffering from a pubic bone injury for months, it occasionally gets better and occasionally gets worse. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer did shatter his lower right leg while on a ski tour a year and a half ago but he has successfully recovered from it. Neuer played the full 90 minutes of both the June friendlies.

The keeper may be back in action but doesn’t seem his usual self at this level. Against Greece and Ukraine, he made several unexpected errors. Many in Germany are now debating whether Marc-André ter Stegen should be the starting custodian for the national team at Euro.

The latest star to miss the entire event is Aleksander Pavlovic. Emre Can replaces Pavlovic, who is dealing with tonsillitis.

By leaving out Leon Goretzka and Mats Hummels from his final squad, Nagelsmann took a bold decision. Sané’s inclusion in the starting lineup is the main concern right now. The captain, Ilkay Gündogan, seems to be trying to find a place on the team as well.
