Kudus has been left out due to injury.

Ghana’s 28-man roster for the FIFA World Cup next month is led by Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo, while Mohammed Kudus, an ailing playmaker, has been left out owing to a season-ending injury.

Ghana began its pre-World Cup training camp in Cardiff on Monday, when coach Carlos Queiroz announced the team in preparation for the June 2 friendly against Wales.

Kudus’s season at Tottenham Hotspur was cut short due to a quadriceps injury and accompanying recuperation delay.

After sustaining the injury against Sunderland, the 25-year-old was predicted to miss several months, but he was anticipated to make a comeback before the World Cup.

Ghana have lost one of its most important players of the last four years and its top attacking midfielder due to his absence.

Mohammed Salisu is not in the team either. The AS Monaco centre-back suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture during a league match against Olympique Lyon in January.

Earlier this year, Ghana’s team physician, Dr Prince Pambo, stated that the player would not be able to compete in the tournament due to his nine-month recuperation period.
