Ghana starting lineup vs Croatia confirmed for FIFA World Cup 2026 match

Ghana will face Croatia for the first time at the FIFA World Cup.

Ghana are all set to face Croatia in their last group stage game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game will be played at the Philadelphia Stadium in Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 27. The two teams are situated in Group L of the summer competition alongside England and Panama.

The Black Stars started their campaign in North America with a narrow 1-0 win over Panama. Caleb Yirenkyi’s only goal in the added time was the only factor that separated the two sides at the Toronto Stadium. However, it remains the only goal Ghana has scored in the summer tournament so far.

In the second game, the Black Stars gave a defensive masterclass against Thomas Tuchel’s England, who took 19 shots and maintained 78 per cent possession.

The Three Lions also set an unwanted record as they became the nation to have the most possession in a match without scoring a goal; earlier, this record was held by Türkiye, who also failed to score in their two opening games at the World Cup.

With four points after two matches, Ghana are in a great position to secure a spot in the last 32. However, the official teams to qualify for the next round will be revealed soon.

Thoughts on the lineup

Benjamin Asare has replaced Lawrence Ati-Zigi in the goal for the remainder of the campaign. Ati-Zigi sustained a groin injury in the first half of Ghana’s opening win over Panama. The Black Stars’ back four, consisting of Alexander Djiku, Gideon Mensah, Derrick Luckassen, and Jonas Adjetey, will play against Croatia.

Thomas Partey will play as the single pivot in the midfield. Antoine Semenyo and Kamaldeen Sulemana will provide the formation, while Kwasi Sibo and Ebenezer Owusu will add structural balance. Skipper Jordan Ayew will lead the pack as the frontman.
