Greece vs England Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds
The Three Lions are three points below the group leaders.
So, the final round of the UEFA Nations League is upon us. Crunch time! But England have some cleaning up to do after the last time they got defeated at the hands of Greece. And the English must get the dub if they want to top the group, and secure that golden ticket to League A. Lose, and it’s the dreaded playoffs come March—nobody wants that.
It’s got shades of that iconic 2002 World Cup qualifier, doesn’t it? Beckham’s free-kick glory to send England through. This Thursday, the Three Lions might need another last-minute hero.
But it’s not going to be straightforward against the heavyweight Greeks who have been on the roll in the competition so far. Four wins and it’s looking more than comfortable for them, considering they are only after a draw out of this game.
Kick Off
Thursday, November 14, 7:45 PM UK
Friday, November 15, 1:15 AM IST
Venue: Athens Olympic Stadium
Form
Greece (in Nations League): W-W-W-W
England (in Nations League): W-W-L-W
Players to watch
Vangelis Pavlidis (Greece)
England will be wary of Vangelis Pavlidis coming to this game. I mean, how can they forget the name of the goal machine who bagged a brace, handing them there only Nations League defeat? Sure, Fotis Ioannidis is back (three goals in the opening two games) but Vangelis should get the nod to start.
Harry Kane (England)
Expect this to be a battle of the strikers. Harry Kane has picked up where he left last season, having scored 17 in 16 games across all competitions. But the English skipper has faced his end of criticism for underperforming when it matters. Guess this is the chance to show because the match against Greece is huge.
Match Facts
- Greece have won all four games in the Nations League – the only one to do it alongside Romania
- Greece have just conceded once in that run
- England lost for the first time against the Greeks last time out

Injury and team news
Greece boss Jovanovic is expected to stick with the winning lineup that took down the Three Lions in October. Well, while Pavlidis will be eager to test the opponent’s defence once more one can’t say for sure if he is going to complete 90 mins with Loannidis back.
Meanwhile, England have injury worries. Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jack Grealish are all in doubt, forcing Lee Carsley to tweak his lineup from their recent win over Finland.
Head-to-head
Games: 8
Greece: 1
England: 5
Draws: 2
Predicted lineups
Greece predicted lineup (4-2-3-1)
Vlachodimos; Rota, Mavropanos, Koulierakis, Tsimikas; Siopis, Mantalos; Masouras, Bakasetas, Tzolis; Pavlidis
England predicted lineup (4-2-3-1)
Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guehi, Hall; Gomes, Gallagher; Bellingham, Palmer, Foden; Kane
Prediction
The pressure’s on the Three Lions to deliver. They have underperformed. But it’s a chance, second act, at redemption to have a go at it. So, expect them to show glimpses of their prowess. That should do it as we predict England to hand Greece their first loss.
Prediction: Greece 1 – 2 England
