FIFA World Cup Trophy

Switzerland and Qatar have qualified for the knockout stage from Group B.

All the fixtures of Group B of the 2026 FIFA World Cup have come to an end. The group included co-hosts Canada, Switzerland, Qatar and Bosnia-Herzegovina. On matchday 1, both matches ended in draws, and all four sides finished with 1 point each.

Meanwhile, on matchday 2, Canada defeated Qatar 6-0, where Jonathan David scored a hat-trick. On the other hand, Switzerland also recorded a 4-1 triumph over Bosnia-Herzegovina, with Johan Manzambi emerging as Nati’s star.

On MD 3, the co-hosts suffered their only defeat but still made history by reaching the knockout stage for the first time, while Switzerland topped Group B. With four points, Bosnia are still in the race for qualification to the last 32, while Qatar are out of the World Cup.

Thus, on that note, let’s take a look at the best and worst performers from Group B at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Best Performers

Switzerland’s breakthrough star, Johan Manzambi, has had a stellar performance in the ongoing World Cup campaign. In the first game, he wasn’t the best player on the field.

However, after netting two goals against Bosnia-Herzegovina and one against Canada, he’s currently Nati’s leading goalscorer in the 2026 edition of the summer competition. Additionally, he also assisted Ruben Vargas’ goal against Switzerland.

Nathan Saliba: Canada

Nathan Saliba could be Canada’s find of the tournament. The 22-year-old is an agile, technical player who can adapt to the team’s requirements. He was on the bench for Canada’s opening game.

However, he soon got the much-deserved opportunity in Canada’s second game of the group stage. In 33 minutes against Qatar, he scored a goal and provided an assist. Facing the biggest challenge so far, Salina made two dribbles and provided one assist while maintaining a passing accuracy of 88 per cent.

Worst Performers

Mahmoud Abunada: Qatar

Mahmoud Abunada had a tough time playing for Qatar at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 26-year-old conceded 10 goals in three games while also scoring an own goal in the last group stage match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Against Canada, where he conceded six goals, he made an error that led to one goal. In Qatar’s opening game of the competition against Switzerland, Mahmoud Abunada conceded a penalty, which led to a goal. Despite everything, he still made 12 appearances across the three group-stage fixtures.

Assim Mabido: Qatar

Assim Mabido did not have the opportunity to play all three games for Qatar at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after receiving a red card against Canada. Mabido’s performance will be a point of discussion, as he had limited touches on the ball despite being a defensive midfielder.

However, the most infamous incident happened against Canada when he received a red card for tackling Ismaël Koné, who broke his leg and was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. Assim Mabido won only one of the six duels he attempted. Mabido’s suspension has also been increased from one match to five.
