Haiti return to the World Cup after 52 years.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, football’s grandest spectacle, has finally arrived. The tournament fever is at its peak around the world. From perennial favourites to new debutants, the competition features 48 nations for the first time.

The Haiti national football team are set to make a return to the global stage after 52 years, with the nation expected to create their mark in the new edition. They will begin their campaign against Scotland at Boston Stadium in Massachusetts, USA.

The nation’s most crucial player will undoubtedly be Johny Placide. He is also set to captain the side in the 2026 campaign.

The veteran goalkeeper has been instrumental to the national team for over a decade; however, he has ensured his unmatched experience and sharp reflexes are fully ready in time for the tournament.

Sébastien Migné will lead Haiti for the first time in a major tournament. Haiti qualified for the new campaign after navigating through the CONCACAF qualifiers. They are placed in Group C, alongside Brazil, Morocco and Scotland, considered to be one of the most difficult groups of the World Cup.

The midfield is undoubtedly the most crucial component for the nation, essential for breaking up the opposition’s attacks. Wolverhampton star Jean-Ricner Bellegarde will be tasked with controlling the tempo of the game alongside Danley Jean Jacques and Leverton Pierre. They will try to dictate play with their immense physicality, work rate, and tactical versatility.

Haiti’s forward line is also instrumental, utilising explosive width and lethal finishing of the attackers. Wingers Ruben Providence and Louicius Deedson are needed to stretch the opposition. Meanwhile, striker Wilson Isidor, who scored in Haiti’s final warm-up match against Peru, and the nation’s all-time top scorer, Duckens Nazon, start upfront.

At the back, a highly disciplined defensive unit provides the stability to defend deep against tougher opposition. Veteran centre-back Ricardo Adé will act as the anchor of the backline, alongside experienced Carlens Arcus, Hannes Delcroix, and Martin Expérience.
