Has any player ever won THREE trebles in football history?

Winning a treble alone is no ordinary feat.

Winning a trophy is one of the top feelings for football players as they put their throughout the season to lift as many trophies as possible. However, if a player wins three trophies in a season, it is seen as one of the best achievements of his career.

Winning three trophies, such as two domestic titles and one top European competition trophy, is called a treble. It’s certainly one of the toughest challenges for every player and team to achieve this significant mark.

Still, many players have managed to win trebles in their careers, when guiding their respective teams to the treble. We have players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer, and the names could go on.

However, there are only a select group of players who have been able to win the treble twice, including David Alaba, Jérôme Boateng, Javi Martínez, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi and Sergio Busquets.

But never in the history of this sport has there been a player to win a treble three times in his career. However, now we might be able to witness this type of greatness this season.

Manuel Neuer has already won two trebles with the same club. At the age of 40, the German goalkeeper remains Bayern’s first-choice custodian.

Moreover, he could sign a new contract with the Bundesliga club for another year, which highlights the sort of impact Neuer has made throughout his career at Bayern.

Can Manuel Neuer win his third?

Ever since joining Bayern, Neuer was quick to cement his position as one of the best goalkeepers in the history of sport. Now he is on the verge of creating a new record with them.

His first treble came in 2012-13, with Bayern, lifting the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and UEFA Champions League. In 2019-20, his second followed, winning the same three competitions.

Now, he could emulate all the trophies with Bayern once again. They are already in the Champions League semi-final, and will face VfB Stuttgart in the final of the DFB-Pokal this year. Meanwhile, they have already won the Bundesliga title.
