Has Marcus Rashford ever scored a hat-trick in his career?
Marcus Rashford has cemented himself as a regular starter for Manchester United.
One of the best products of the Manchester United academy that has risen to prominence in world football has undoubtedly been Marcus Rashford. In his eight years as a Manchester United first-team player, Rashford has consistently been a key regular starter of the team under several different managers.
In the 2023-24 season, the 26-year-old forward endured an underwhelming club campaign. During his 43 appearances across all competitions, he managed to register disappointing numbers of eight goals and five assists in the process. Even with Rashford’s lacklustre form, the Red Devils claimed the FA Cup, beating local rivals Manchester City in the final.
Owing to his poor club season, Marcus Rashford was also not called up by manager Gareth Southgate to be a part of the final England squad for Euro 2024.
Ever since his lucrative five-year contract extension last year, Rashford has failed to perform well on a regular basis, despite constantly being trusted by manager Erik ten Hag as a preferred starter. Due to his consistent mediocre displays, the United fans have expressed their growing frustrations. They feel that talented youngsters like Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo deserve more game time ahead of their misfiring star player.
Has Marcus Rashford ever scored a hat-trick?
Ever since his Manchester United senior debut in 2016, Marcus Rashford has operated in multiple positions across the front line, making 402 appearances across all competitions and accumulating 131 goals and 66 assists in the process. During this period, he also made his debut for the England national team, where he has managed to get 60 caps so far and score 17 goals.
Throughout his playing career at both the club and country level so far, Rashford has managed to score just a solitary hattrick.
During the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League group stages, Manchester United dismantled German side RB Leipzig by a thumping scoreline of 5-0. In that match, Rashford came off the bench after the hour mark to bag a smashing hattrick in just 16 minutes of action.
His first goal was a well-placed finish, with the second goal being a powerful strike into the corner. The English international completed his hat-trick through a close-range goal.
This incredible achievement made Marcus Rashford only the second Manchester United player in history to score a hattrick as a substitute after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had done the same against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in 1999.
With Rashford already back for pre-season training at the club, he would hope to have a strong revival campaign in the upcoming 2024-25 season.
