France have won all three of their group stage games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
France defeated Norway 4-1 in their last group-stage game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Friday, June 26. While the game was expected to be Les Bleus’ first big challenge, the Vikings rested almost their entire first-team squad.
The two-time champions were missing their head coach, Didier Deschamps. He had to leave the United States to attend his mother’s funeral, which took place earlier this week.
In his absence, long-time assistant coach Guy Stephan was given temporary charge of the French side during their game against Norway. The game became memorable for 2025 Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé. He scored his maiden hat-trick in the coveted competition.

Have France qualified for the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026?
France have qualified for the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Their qualification got confirmed last week when they defeated Iraq 3-0 at the Philadelphia Stadium in Pennsylvania. However, their recent victory over Norway confirms that they will top their group.
They will face one of the eight best third-placed teams in their Round of 32 match. Les Bleus have provided an excellent display of goalscoring, scoring 10 goals and conceding only two in three games. After Mexico, they are the only team in the ongoing World Cup to have won all three of their group stage games.
The two-time champions are also one of the hot favourites to win the 2026 edition of the World Cup. However, they will have to compete against the defending champions Argentina, Brazil, Spain and more for the prestigious title.
The two-time champions will play their first knockout game on July 1 at the New York-New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, United States.
