Elliott has struggled to get minutes under Arne Slot.

Liverpool have been handed a major injury concern. Their star player Harvey Elliott faces several weeks out of action after fracturing his foot during the September international break.

The youngster is likely to be sidelined for at least late October. This is a major blow for the player who has not had enough minutes in the last three matches. He has so far struggled to impress under head coach Arne Slot.

The youngster did make an imprint during the pre-season but could not start any of the three Premier League games. New manager Slot has preferred Dominik Szoboszlai in the more advanced midfield role.

However, despite Elliott’s lack of games, Liverpool have been impressive under the Dutch manager. They are the only second team to have won all three games after Manchester City. Currently, the Reds are second in the Premier League table.

The England international did have a cameo of seven minutes when he replaced Mohamed Salah in a 2-0 win over Brentford.

However, it was a great chance for Elliott to get some minutes during the international break, but the midfielder was omitted from the squad after reporting a new injury.

This is a big blow for Slot who could have used the player in future games. But now the 21-year-old faces a period of time on the sidelines before the next international break (October) and potentially beyond.

Liverpool are set to undergo a crucial period before another international break. They will face Nottingham Forest at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday before they start their UEFA Champions League quest away at AC Milan.

Under Slot, Liverpool have had a dream start as they accumulated all three points in their last three games. Their recent 3-0 win against Manchester United further gave the impression that Liverpool got the Jurgen Klopp replacement right on the spot.

However, the season has just started. It will be interesting to see how things unfold under Slot as the fans will expect to witness more entertaining football under him.
