The Blues have recorded 10 red cards this season so far.
Chelsea have many problems to address, but their lack of discipline is arguably the most obvious at the moment. During the ongoing BlueCo era, the lack of experienced players in the Premier League’s youngest team has been brought up several times, but nowhere is it more obvious than when it comes to maintaining a full complement of players on the field at Stamford Bridge.
The most recent Blues player to get sent off this season is Pedro Neto. We’re getting close to putting together a full starting lineup of West Londoners’ players who have received red cards this season, along with a manager in the dugout.
The Blues’ previous head coach, Enzo Maresca and nine players received their marching orders this term. The Italian manager was partly to blame for his team’s lack of discipline during the first half of the season, but under Liam Rosenior, the trend appears to be continuing, as Neto’s red card vs Arsenal ensured the Blues completed consecutive games with a numerical disadvantage.
“I thought we had taken care of that.” After Neto was sent off in Chelsea’s 2-1 away loss to Arsenal, Liam Rosenior stated, “We went 10 games without a red card, now [we have] two in two games and that’s a problem we need to solve.”
In order of absurdity, we have compiled a list of all ten of Chelsea’s red cards this season so far.
