Brazilian doctor confirms extent of Neymar’s injury
How well he progresses physically over the next few weeks will determine whether or not he participates.
“It’s not just swelling,” the Brazil team physician stated.
“Neymar arrived at Granja Comary yesterday, underwent all the medical exams, and we finished with an MRI, which identified a grade 2 muscle injury. The athlete is continuing treatment, and the expectation is that he will be cleared in two to three weeks.“
The injury was confirmed a day after Neymar was sent to a nearby clinic for tests on Wednesday, missing the first official training session with the national team at Granja Comary in Teresopolis.
The star had shown up with his calf area swollen. The attacker started experiencing pain during Santos’ 3-0 loss to Coritiba in the Brazilian league on May 17.
After speaking with Carlo Ancelotti directly, the forward consented to join the team even if it meant taking on a less important position.
Together with Santos professionals and the player’s personal staff, the medical committee is adhering to stringent protocols in order to hasten his muscle recuperation before the start of the competition.
