How many World Cup games Curacao's Jurgen Locadia will miss after red card?

Curacao have been dealt a major blow.

Following a red card in a friendly, attacker Jurgen Locadia may miss Curacao’s opening World Cup matches.

Billy Gilmour sustained an injury that would prevent him from participating in the World Cup after his country’s 4-1 win against Curacao at Hampden Park.

Jürgen Locadia tried to stop a clearance from Aaron Hickey when Curacao was ahead 1-0. He was first booked for striking the Brentford player in the foot.

However, after looking into it, VAR determined that Jurgen Locadia should be sent off for violent conduct. It carries a three-game penalty because it was determined that he had elbowed his opponent. Scotland overcame a 1-0 deficit to win 4-1 as a result of it.

Ryan Christie, Lawrence Shankland twice, and Findlay Curtis all scored goals following the red card and guided Scotland to a win.

Will Jurgen Locadia miss the Curacao World Cup opening game?

However, the primary issue is how that would affect Locadia. The former Brighton & Hove Albion forward would miss Curacao’s first two World Cup matches as well as their friendly against Aruba due to a three-match suspension.

“If you get a good referee, then he will say ‘get him out, and bring somebody else in’… Now we have to wait for what will happen for the World Cup,” Curacao manager Dick Advocaat said.

It implies that they might be eliminated from the competition entirely by the time he returns. Locadia will not play against Germany or Ecuador. He will make a comeback against the Ivory Coast in Curacao’s final World Cup group match.

That is, unless his country wins an appeal that would cut the number of games from three to only one or two.
