The Ballon d’Or is one of the most famous awards in football, and every player desires to lift the prize once in their playing career. But only a handful of players manage to actually take home the famous accolade. Meanwhile, for Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, it was bread and butter, winning the highly touted prize in what seemed like every year.

However, Messi managed to eclipse Ronaldo in winning the award more times, lifting it eight times. Ronaldo won it five times in his playing career so far.

Both enjoyed many successful years of rivalry and beating each other for this award. But ever since their exit from Europe. The award is now more open, and there can be different winners every year. Last year, we had Manchester City midfielder Rodri winning the award.
