Many participating clubs are set to pocket significant financial gains in the competition.
The purpose of this summer’s redesigned FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which included 32 teams instead of just seven, is to bring new significance to a once-overlooked competition. It now features elite clubs from all around the world based on their results over the previous four years.
FIFA increased prize money significantly, which is one of the most effective ways it has raised the stakes. Clubs will get €11.8 million for the quarterfinals, €19 million for the semi-finals, and €6.8 million for making it to the round of 16.
The winner of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will receive €35 million for winning the championship match, while the losing finalist will receive €27.1 million.
Together, the funds earned from the participation and performance pillars could provide the winners more than €100 million throughout the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
The Club World Cup divides the £772.81 million prize fund into two main pillars: participation money and sporting performance, following UEFA’s strategy throughout its three major championships.
Each win can generate significant revenue. However, lower-coefficient clubs receive a lesser share of the pie. As the Round of 16 games approach, each club have started to pocket a decent sum from reaching just the knockout stage.
How much money are clubs making?
Even though teams like FC Barcelona, Napoli, and Liverpool—all of whom missed this renovated showpiece despite winning domestic titles—might enjoy the sudden break as they prepare for the new campaign, you will now understand their jealousy for the wealth available in the revamped competition.
This time out, prominent clubs will be looking for a sizable revenue windfall via the performance-related pillar. Clubs will receive €936k for a draw and €1.75m for a victory in the group stages. Clubs will receive substantially more money as they advance further in the event.
With this, we take a look at the twelve European teams that were paid a set amount to attend the Club World Cup.
