The Portuguese head coach recently parted ways with Fenerbahce.

After being fired by Fenerbahce six games into the new season, Jose Mourinho’s fortunes are expected to improve once more.

Barely a year after taking over in Istanbul, the Portuguese manager was freed of his responsibilities by the Turkish powerhouses on Friday.

The last straw for the 61-year-old was Fenerbahce’s midweek loss to SL Benfica, which eliminated their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Mourinho is entitled to a sizable compensation payout because he had one year remaining on his contract before he was sacked.

Mourinho has made millions only from his sacking by clubs

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that Mourinho will receive £7.7 million in severance pay, bringing his career earnings from firings alone to an astounding £89 million.

Chelsea have paid him more than £26 million. Mourinho collected £18 million after being fired at Stamford Bridge in 2007 and £8.3 million after being fired again in 2015.

He was handed a £17 million payoff by Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Manchester United paid him over £20 million when he was released in December 2018, a few months after he had agreed to a new two-year deal through 2020.

A disastrous 17-month tenure at Tottenham also resulted in dismissal and a substantial £15 million payout. When he was let go, he still had two years left on his Spurs contract.

Roma only paid him about £3 million as his contract was expiring at the end of the season.

Other managerial compensation pales in comparison to Mourinho’s total. It is estimated that the Portuguese’s fiercest adversary, Antonio Conte, received almost £37 million in compensation over his career.

This includes a staggering £26 million when Chelsea fired him in 2018. Additionally, Chelsea gave Thomas Tuchel £13 million in 2022 and Luis Felipe Scolari £13.6 million in 2009.

After being fired by PSG in 2017, Laurent Blanc received £17 million, which is thought to be the fourth-highest managerial compensation in history.

How much will Mourinho receive after his sacking from Fenerbahce?

He will receive £7.7 million in severance pay.

How much has he made from sackings alone?

Throughout his career, he has made £89 million from sackings by clubs.

Which club paid him the highest sum for sacking?
