The Brazilian, who moved to Spain from Leeds United in 2022, was already a reliable player for the first two years, but this season, he’s really stepped up his game.

He has already scored more goals in 2024–25 than he did in his first two seasons at Barcelona put together.

With goals against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund, to mention a few, he is also performing well in the most crucial games.

Despite being reduced to ten men, the Brazilian recently saved the day and gave Barcelona their lone goal of the match against Benfica, helping Hansi Flick’s team win 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

How was Messi’s final season compared to Raphina’s recent term at Barcelona?

By contrast, Messi contributed 52 goals in all competitions during his final season at Barcelona in 2020–21. Although Messi presently leads Raphinha, the numbers are much closer than they appear.

Raphinha has been more effective than Messi during his final campaign with the team when you consider the number of minutes each player has featured.

While Messi contributed a goal per 80.6 minutes per game during the 2020–21 season, the Brazilian has contributed a goal or assist every 73.2 minutes for Barcelona.
