Despite Raphinha’s outstanding play in 2024–25, how do his numbers stack up against Lionel Messi’s final campaign at Barcelona?
The Brazilian, who moved to Spain from Leeds United in 2022, was already a reliable player for the first two years, but this season, he’s really stepped up his game.
He has already scored more goals in 2024–25 than he did in his first two seasons at Barcelona put together.
With goals against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund, to mention a few, he is also performing well in the most crucial games.
Despite being reduced to ten men, the Brazilian recently saved the day and gave Barcelona their lone goal of the match against Benfica, helping Hansi Flick’s team win 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
Raphinha has now contributed 47 goals altogether, scoring 27 goals and dishing out 20 assists in all competitions.
Raphinha is undoubtedly being discussed at the moment, but Barcelona will probably need to advance far in the Champions League and win some silverware in order for him to have a chance to win the Ballon d’Or.
How was Messi’s final season compared to Raphina’s recent term at Barcelona?

It’s also important to remember that Messi was Barcelona’s leading penalty taker in that campaign, while Raphinha isn’t one in 2024–25.
