Ancelotti must make some decisions at the back for Real Madrid

We will be witnessing a thrilling match between two of the best European teams, with the winner of this match a strong candidate to win the Champions League at Wembley. Real Madrid have already defeated Manchester City in the quarterfinals, one of the favourites, and they will likely pose a serious threat to Bayern Munich in the semis.

Likely, Bayern Munich will only be able to win silverware in the form of UCL. The first leg is always a key factor in determining the outcome of the clash since the winner gets an advantage in the second leg. The list below is an overview of what Carlo Ancelotti could field against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Real Madrid predicted lineup (Formation 4-4-2)

GK: Andriy Lunin

While Thibaut Courtois was unavailable, Andriy Lunin led Los Blancos to the semi-finals of the Champions League. The team secured their place in the semi-final in the last match due to his heroic performance in the penalty shootout against Manchester City. The stats he has had so far in the league have been outstanding, as he has kept 10 clean sheets in 20 matches.

RB: Lucas Vasquez

In light of the suspension of Carvajal, Lucas Vasquez will be asked to fill the right-back void, as Ancelotti has often used him there this season. Against Barcelona, he scored and assisted, proving his impressive performance. In order to prevent their wide attackers from making an impact in this match, Carlo Ancelotti will surely depend on him to put in the same effort.

CB: Antonio Rüdiger

Antonio Rüdiger has become an essential part of the team with the German International playing an important role in the last match to prevent Erling Haaland from having an impact on the game. This season he has been the mainstay in the team making 29 appearances with different partners at the back. In addition to his outstanding performance at the back, he also scored the winning penalty to win the game for them.

CB: Aurelien Tchouameni

Due to injuries, Ancelotti has relied mostly on the France international at the back. However, he has repaid his trust by performing extremely well there, demonstrating his versatility. Rudiger and Tchouameni have developed a strong partnership at the back this season, with the Los Blancos having not lost a match together this season. The Los Blancos have not lost a match this season with him in the side.

LB: Ferland Mendy

Ferland Mendy brings balance to the team as demonstrated by his contribution in both the halves of the side as he is comfortable with the ball at his feet to create chances for the team from the left-hand side of the pitch combining effectively with Vinicius. He performed his task impressively in the last match to limit the threat posed by Silva and Foden, not giving them enough space to make an impact.

RCM: Federico Valverde

Federico Valverde brings a physical side to the game as he is strong in tackles and makes some well-time interceptions. He also covers an ample amount of ground as he is often the engine of the team covering every inch of the ground through his hardworking nature. He also scored a cracker of a goal in the last match to level the tie for the team in the thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg. This season he has not scored a lot of goals for the team but is one of the first names in the team due to his importance in both halves.

CM: Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos has become a vital member for the Los Blancos since his move from Bayern developing himself as one of the best midfielders of the World. He is crucial to the way the team plays as he often runs for them controlling the tempo of the game as well as creating chances for them. He is known for his vision and ability to thread accurate long passes and is one of the few players in the Champions League history to have an outstanding passing rate.

CM: Eduardo Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga brings defensive stability to the team, shielding the back four with his well-timed tackles as well as covering the ground vacated by his teammates. He also scores some crucial goals at the same time as evidenced by his goal against Manchester City in the last round. He has made 38 appearances for the team this term and will likely be a crucial player in the centre of the pitch in this match.

LCM: Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham has made an impressive transition in the team this season since his big-money move from Dortmund. He is leading the goal-scoring chart for the team evidenced by his 17 goals. He has developed into a world-class talent taking his game to the next level by his performance this season. He has developed an incredible partnership with Vinicius and Rodrygo to score the goals for the team this term to lead the Los Blancos in the league and Champions League.

ST: Rodrygo

Rodrygo has often posed a challenge to Manchester City’s Champions League push, scoring in each previous match against them. Aside from his defensive duties, he is also an important player for Carlo Ancelotti’s team. He has scored 17 goals this season and provided 8 assists. In light of the much-awaited move of Mbappe, he will no doubt be seeking to prove a point in this match.

ST: Vinicius Jr

As the team’s main man, Vinicius Jr takes over from Benzema as the talisman figure. With his speed and dribbling, he always poses a danger to the opposition, causing plenty of problems for them. During this season, he has scored 19 goals and assisted nine others, contributing to Los Blancos’ success in the league and Champions League.
