The Brazilian made a comeback from injury for Santos on Thursday.
After missing more than a month of action due to a thigh injury, Neymar made his comeback on Thursday. However, Santos fell 5–4 in a penalty shootout against CRB. The Brazilian was unable to keep them from getting eliminated from the Copa do Brasil.
After sustaining his second major injury of the year, the former Barcelona and Paris St. Germain forward left the field in tears last month. He has had a terrible run of ailments since he joined the Brazilian club from Al-Hilal.
After playing for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, the 33-year-old rejoined his childhood team, Santos. According to media sources, he has a deal with the Brazilian team through June 30.
When questioned whether he would remain at the club, which tied with CRB in both legs of their third-round match prior to a penalty shootout defeat, the forward was not giving much away.
“I don’t know yet,” he told Amazon Prime.
Santos have lost six of their first nine games of the 2025 season, putting them in 19th place in the league.
Despite displaying flashes of his genius during the game, Neymar, who had just recovered from an injury, was unable to lead his side to a victory. Questions were raised about the forward’s performance regarding his form and ability to guide the team during pivotal moments.
The loss shocked Brazilian football, as both supporters and commentators were taken aback by the club’s sudden exit from the tournament. The attention is now on former PSG star and whether he can recover more effectively in the next challenges, while the team recovers from the heartbreaking defeat.
Although the former Al-Hilal and Santos player suffered heartbreak at the Copa do Brasil, the football community is aware that defeats like this only serve to strengthen champions. All eyes will be on Neymar and the club as this dramatic chapter comes to an end. They will attempt to make amends and establish themselves as a formidable team in Brazilian football.
