I repeat that I still love Manchester United: Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or with the Red Devils
Cristiano Ronaldo’s message to his former club Manchester United will delight the fans, the former striker sent his best wishes to the club where he grew into one of the best players in football.
United provided the Portuguese player a place to demonstrate his value when he joined them back in 2003. The former Real Madrid player took full advantage of the chance and developed into a most promising player.
His performance at the club saw him earn many accolades and win trophies. One of the top prizes he won when he was at United was Ballon d’Or and since no Man Utd player has won the coveted award.
Ronaldo was in his own league when he joined United as he etched his name in the history books of the club and created a legacy after spending six years at the club before joining another top club Real Madrid in a then record-breaking transfer.
It appeared that it was his last time at the club and he will never return but the player did make a comeback when he joined them in 2021 and took no time to remind the fans that he never left as he scored 18 goals in that season.
However, things didn’t end the way it was expected between the player and club when in an interview with a famous journalist Piers Morgan where he called out the board’s poor treatment of the club and how the Premier League side is run.
He also criticised manager Erik ten Hag and after that, everything fell apart between the player and the club his contract was terminated and he left in an acrimonious situation.
But despite all of this Ronaldo still has a soft spot for the club after he said: “I repeat that I still love Manchester United”. I wish Manchester United all the best”.
Ronaldo certainly loves United because it’s where he became a player today he is and in an interview what he said certainly wasn’t targeted at the club but actually those who ran the club.
But maybe fans and others have misinterpreted his words and felt he criticised them and this resulted in his exit from the Red Devils.
