The right-back has been playing for the Reds first-team since 2016.

Liverpool sensation Trent Alexander-Arnold has vowed to captain the Reds once in his playing career if he gets the chance. Ever since the full-back broke through to the first team he has developed into one of the best right-backs in Europe.

Alexander Arnold managed to announce himself at the club quickly and became a household name. His first appearance for the senior side came in 2016 and since then he has been an integral part of the club.

The 25-year-old recently made 100 goal contributions in all competitions (19 goals, 81 assists) for Liverpool in their 3-0 win against Bournemouth, which was one of the biggest milestones of his career as a right-back.

It’s not surprising how he has continued to become more mature with his performance and how Liverpool have always benefitted from his exploits during the games.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has just a year remaining on his current contract

However, Alexander-Arnold is currently in the last year of his contract and if the Reds hope to keep him at the club then they will have to look to extend his contract to fend off interest from other clubs.

Given he now spent eight years at the club, he is certainly now seen as the future captain of the club and maybe the club could decide to hand him the skipper armband once Virgil van Dijk leaves the club.

But when asked about the prospect of becoming the captain of Liverpool, the English international said: “I have always said I want to captain Liverpool”. “That is an aim of mine and a goal of mine, whether that happens is out of my hands, to be honest”.

Soon, Alexander-Arnold will have a chance to captain Liverpool if he signs a new deal as he is certainly one of the faces of the club after spending so many years playing for them.

But Liverpool’s major concern will be handing him a new deal as he will certainly want to keep such a top right-back, who is now in his prime years and will be looking to contribute more to the club under a new manager.
