The Brazilian star was sent off in the last game against Valencia.
Pablo Maffeo, the star of Mallorca, said that he would āknock outā Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid in ā10 secondsā in a boxing match.
During the 2021ā22 LaLiga season, Maffeo was sent off for a foul on the Brazilian, which led to their first altercation. Since then, there has been some animosity between the two, but the Mallorca right-back claimed that they have since moved on.
After talking about a fictitious boxing contest with the Madrid star ahead of their Supercopa de Espana semi-final encounter on Thursday, Maffeo might have run the risk of rekindling the rivalry.
He said on the Indomitos podcast: āIt would be in a world apart, in a fictional life, but I think it could be the most watched fight in history. I think I would win, I have no doubt, I would knock him out in 10 seconds.ā
Incidentally, Maffeo said back in August said: āI went to him [Vinicius] and said: āLetās drop the nonsense. What happened happened last year, it makes no sense to carry on like this.ā He told me āyes, yes, no problem,ā and we were basically getting on fine then. Ultimately itās not a good image.ā
While Los Blancos aim to match Barcelonaās record 14 victories, Mallorca will play Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu in an attempt to win the Supercopa de Espana for the second time ever. Maffeo and Vinicius Jr. might face off on the field once more in this match, and there might be an altercation afterwards between the two.
The Brazilian was sent off in Madridās 2-1 win against Valencia after his heated scene with the opposition goalkeeper, and it remains to be seen if he will miss the clubās next game if the Los Blancos appeal to the 24-year-old red card.
Prior to that match, Vinicius Jrās Madrid will travel to Dep Minera, a fourth-tier Spanish team, on Monday in the Copa Del Rey Round of 32.
