The French centre-back has been linked with a move to Los Blancos.
Ibrahima Konaté, a defender for Liverpool, has made a joke about Kylian Mbappé phoning him “every two hours” to discuss a possible transfer to Real Madrid.
Although Liverpool are eager to retain him on a long-term basis, Konaté has been frequently linked to the LaLiga powerhouses, and his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
The centre-back has recently opened up about his conversation with Mbappe regarding joining the Spanish club.
Konate reveals Mbappe calls him every two hours to convince him to join Madrid

In an interview with Telefoot while on international duty, Konaté was questioned about whether France teammate Mbappé was pressuring him to relocate to Real Madrid.
Konate responded by joking, “He calls me every two hours!”
The Frenchman then quickly followed that up with: “No, no, no.”
During the same conversation, Konaté emphasised that he does not speak Spanish. With the champions now accumulating the most points, the 26-year-old has started all three of Liverpool’s Premier League games this season.
Paul Joyce of The Times revealed that Liverpool “will not beg anyone to remain at Anfield,” as the club will keep those players who wants to contribute to club’s success.
Konate contract talks with Reds halted
For a while now, Liverpool have been negotiating a new deal, but as Joyce mentioned, negotiations have stagnated.
This premeditation should ideally guarantee Konate’s competition with Virgil van Dijk, eventually replacing the skipper.
But it’s now possible that the French defender, who turned 26 in May, will finish his Liverpool career by joining another team before Van Dijk.
When is Konate’s Liverpool contract expiring?
His contract will expire next season.
Have the Reds held talks over contract renewal with the Frenchman?
Yes, but the centre-back is yet to agree to a new deal.
Is Konate open to joining Madrid?
There are no such rumours, but the player has been linked with a move.
