Injury update ahead of Manchester derby in Premier League

Both Manchester clubs are facing a serious injury crisis.
The Premier League will return this weekend, and the Manchester Derby is among the top games of Gameweek 4.
With Sunday’s derby between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, tensions will be high in Manchester. Both teams have had a sluggish start to the season, with Pep Guardiola’s squad struggling especially after losing back-to-back league games.
After losing 2-0 to Tottenham, City gave up a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 against Brighton before the September international break. Guardiola will thus have been thinking about his strategy for the derby throughout the break. However, a new injury issue might have somewhat affected his plans.
Ruben Amorim, on the other hand, was happier going into halftime when United defeated Burnley to record their first victory of the season. However, two of his players suffered injuries at Old Trafford as a side result of that 3-2 victory. Ahead of the season’s first Manchester Derby, we take a look at both clubs’ injured players.
Guardiola handed several injury concerns

Due to a knee ligament injury sustained during Egypt’s World Cup qualifying match against Burkina Faso on Tuesday, Omar Marmoush will not be able to play for City.
After the Brighton loss, it was reported that Rayan Cherki, City’s summer acquisition from Lyon, would be sidelined for two months due to a thigh injury.
The absence of Savinho and Phil Foden from the team for the Brighton match adds to the offensive issues. Guardiola will provide an update during his pregame press conference, and the team hopes that both can return this weekend.
However, there is worse news elsewhere. John Stones is also doubtful after being forced to withdraw from the England team due to a muscular injury. Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic and Kalvin Phillips are both long-term absentees.
Josko Gvardiol has not yet appeared this season. Abdukodir Khusanov was brought on as a substitute in the closing moments of the Brighton match after suffering a knock. He is anticipated to make a comeback versus United.
Man Utd injury update

Lisandro Martinez is still out for United as he heals from a chronic knee injury. United still have a few other worries.
The United manager will provide updates on Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha’s injuries sustained against Burnley. Moreover, Amorim hopes that Diogo Dalot has healed after leaving the Portugal squad due to “muscle discomfort.”
