Iran starting lineup vs Egypt confirmed for FIFA World Cup 2026 match

Iran and Egypt have faced each other only once before.

Iran are ready to face Egypt in the final group stage game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game is set to be played at the Seattle Stadium in Washington on Friday, June 26. The two sides are drawn in Group G alongside Belgium and New Zealand, who will square off in the other game at the same time at BC Place in Vancouver.

Team Melli started their FIFA World Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against Oceania rivals New Zealand. Ramin Rezaeian and Mohammad Mohebi scored during the game.

Meanwhile, during their last game in the summer competition, they played a goalless draw against Belgium. Iran gave a masterclass in deep defending against Belgium, who failed to convert chances into goals.

Team Melli are one of the two unbeaten teams in Group G without a win. A win in the final game will lead them to the knockout round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Iran lineup for the FIFA World Cup match against Egypt

Iran XI (3-4-3): Alireza Beiranvand (GK); Hossein Kanaani, Shoja Khalilzadeh, Amir Nemati; Ramin Rezaeian, Saman Ghoddos, Saeid Ezatolahi; Milad Mohammadi, Mohammad Ghorbani, Mehdi Taremi, Mohammad Mohebi.

Thoughts on the lineup

Mehdi Taremi is the frontman, while Mohammad Ghorbani and Mohammad Mohebi will provide him with further support on the wings. Iran has performed well defensively; however, they have yet to replicate that success in offence, and they are eyeing doing so against Egypt.

Ramin Rezaeian, Saman Ghoddos, Saeid Ezatolahi and Milad Mohammadi will control the game on flanks and in the middle. The Iranian team focuses more on width and would be keen not to leave any space for the opposition in their defence.

Hossein Kanaani, Shoja Khalilzadeh, and Amir Nemati will form the three-man defence, while the goal will be guarded by Alireza Beiranvand.
