The forward is back from a serious injury that he suffered during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
After missing six months due to a fractured fibula, Jamal Musiala has resumed training with Bayern Munich’s first squad. After suffering a severe injury against Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup in July, the 21-year-old Germany international began a protracted rehabilitation process by stepping onto the grass at Sabener Strabe for an outdoor training.
After being carried off during Bayern’s CWC quarterfinal match against Paris Saint-Germain, Jamal Musiala received successful surgery on a broken fibula and dislocated ankle.
Bayern have been thorough, making sure that no shortcuts were made and that each stage of Jamal Musiala’s recuperation was finished before the next one started.
Jamal Musiala finally returns to team training

After months of meticulously monitored progress behind closed doors, conditioning, and supervised physiotherapy, his appearance in Tuesday’s training session was the first indication that his recovery is real. Despite losing one of the most talented young strikers in Europe, Bayern’s season has been remarkable.
With Luis Díaz, Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, and Harry Kane leading the way, Vincent Kompany’s team has only lost once in all competitions. Lennart Karl, a teenager with high potential, has also made an impression, highlighting Bayern’s current attacking depth.
The team has been able to approach Jamal Musiala cautiously thanks to that form. There hasn’t been much incentive to rush him back while having a commanding lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
Regarding the timescale, Vincent Kompany has been open and honest, emphasising patience above all things. The Belgian coach had stated that Jamal Musiala was getting closer to returning to the matchday squad ahead of Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Mainz this weekend.
Musiala’s development coincides with Bayern starting to get rid of a long list of injuries. Nine months after suffering a knee injury while playing for Canada, Alphonso Davies made an emotional comeback in the most recent UEFA Champions League triumph over Sporting Lisbon.
How long was Jamal Musiala out?
He was out for six months.
Which injury did he suffer?
He broke his ankle.
When could he play again?
It remains to be seen as Kompany has not revealed it yet.
