Jamal Musiala set to inherit No.10 jersey for Germany ahead of Euro 2024
No. 10 is one of the special numbers in football
At Euro 2024, Jamal Musiala will wear No. 10 at the back. The 21-year-old Bayern Munich star has received accolades for his decision-making, passing, and dribbling. Additionally, he has made 25 appearances for Germany, contributing six assists and 12 goals as per Corriere dello Sport.
In June 2021, at the age of 18 years and 117 days, Musiala played in a 2–2 draw against Hungary to become the youngest player from Germany to participate in a major competition. In addition, he has four Bundesliga crowns.
Since the 2014 World Cup, Florian Wirtz and Musiala have been regarded as Germany’s greatest players. Julian Nagelsmann has found it challenging to deploy both of them together, though, as they perform best when operating in the central number 10 position.
Nonetheless, there has been a great deal of discussion about whether the two could truly play on the same squad. Julian Nagelsmann would want to use both the players and as they provided different dynamics to the squad which will give Nagelsmann a solid squad on paper.
Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala in the same starting lineup?
In any case, in two of his four games in charge, the former Bayern head coach has started Wirtz and Musiala in the same starting lineup, with Wirtz being the player pushed wide. However, Wirtz’s results this season indicate that the order should be reversed.

This season, the Leverkusen midfielder has contributed 27 goals, compared to Musiala’s 19. In addition, this season has seen the gifted young player from Bayern compete at the highest level from the left side. Thus, Musiala and Wirtz may undoubtedly start together if Nagelsmann hopes to maximise his attacking potential this summer. But given what we have seen this season and the fact that he is Germany’s most inventive and potent player against Freiburg, Wirtz ought to be second choice.
At the club level, Musiala’s future remains uncertain at Bayern the forward is keen to try his hands at different leagues and Premier League likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have shown interest in signing the forward. Manager Tuchel’s departure has already been confirmed, but Bayern chairman Max Eberl and sports director Christoph Freund seek to retain the midfield sensation as they continue to make plans for the future.
