Joao Felix gives his verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi GOAT debate

The Chelsea star picked a different player for the GOAT debate

The never-ending best argument is the most fascinating topic of conversation in soccer. Around the world, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo arouse strong feelings.

However, ex-FC Barcelona player Joao Felix has played it safe and asserts that “we should not compare Messi and Cristiano” in a dispute that frequently splits supporters who fervently support one player over the other.

The claim was made in an interview with Gerard Romero, a well-known journalist. The former Atletico Madrid player was asked to weigh in on the two great players’ GOAT argument. Curiously, in addition to declining to accept any particular name, he added

”Ronaldinho’’

Felix said he appreciates both stars’ accomplishments while being impartial. Indeed, if he had brought up one of the two names, it would have sparked a heated argument among soccer fans. The former Benfica player is a Portugal colleague of Ronaldo on the international scene, but he plays for Barcelona, a squad that idolizes Messi, at home.

Given that doing so would have probably created a conflict of interest, it may be for the best that he declined to compare the two. Felix chose a safer course of action, yet his prior behaviour might be in conflict with his present position.

Joao Felix appears to have ignored Cristiano Ronaldo, even though they share a dressing room. The 24-year-old was asked a year ago who the finest free-kick taker was. Lionel Messi was picked without any doubt by the Chelsea star.

Felix would have sparked a heated argument over Ronaldo or Messi, so his decision is not surprising. However, most of the players who are even Messi and Ronaldo teammates do have different choices when it comes to choosing between two of the greatest players of all time.

Given that doing so would have probably created a conflict of interest, it may be for the best that he declined to compare the two and rather gave a diplomat answer.
