Jordan Pickford is aware of the severe heat during the upcoming World Cup.
The weather is one of the numerous topics of discussion leading up to this summer’s FIFA World Cup 2026.
During the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 last summer, a number of games were postponed or cancelled due to thunderstorms. It gave players and spectators a sample of the weather conditions they may anticipate in the upcoming weeks.
Cooling pauses will be incorporated into every game this summer, with the action pausing 22 minutes into each half to tackle severe heat during the matches.
It has long been believed that South American teams will benefit from this type of hot weather since European teams will struggle in the heat.

England’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, has commented on the issue. He said that his side will prepare to settle in that weather in order to avoid any heat strokes.
“We know it’s going to be hot,” Pickford tells FourFourTwo.
“But that’s why we’re heading there early to take part in a preparation camp and play two matches in those conditions.”
“We plan things very well, so I think we’ll be prepared for every eventuality when we kick off on June 17,” he adds.
These two friendlies will be played in Florida. On June 6, Thomas Tuchel’s squad will play New Zealand in Tampa Bay. Four days later, they will play Costa Rica in Orlando. This will give the team a week to finalise preparations for their Group L start against Croatia in Arlington, Texas.
