Jordan are making their World Cup debut.

Jordan qualified for the World Cup 2026 in round three of AFC qualifying, finishing second in their group with 16 points from ten games, just ahead of Iraq.

As a result, they secured automatic qualification for the summer competition, which will be their first appearance in the World Cup finals.

Following their qualification, Jordan performed admirably in the Arab Cup, reaching the final before losing 3-2 to Morocco in extra time.

They have since failed to recover from that defeat, drawing two and losing two of their four friendly matches leading up to the World Cup, leaving them with a five-game winless streak.

They will make their World Cup debut here. A strong performance is the first priority for Jamal Sellami’s team, but hopes of making the knockout rounds are likely to rely on a great outcome in this game.

Their goals are by no means high. Just getting to the World Cup is an accomplishment for these athletes, who will be focused on avoiding a crushing defeat.

Jordan confirmed lineup vs Austria

Jordan face a tough reality: this bunch of players has very little experience at this level. Much will have to pass through Rennes winger Mousa Tamari.

Jordan have experienced its own crushing withdrawals, such as Ibrahim Sabra and Yazan Al Naimat.

The danger man to watch is without a doubt Rennes winger Mousa Tamari, who finished the previous Ligue 1 season with six goals and nine assists. The 23-year-old can play on the left but prefers to attack from the right.

Jordan predicted lineup (3-4-3): Abulaila; Abualnadi, Al-Arab, Nasib; Haddad, Al Rashdan, Al Rawabdeh, Abu Taha; Tamari, Olwan, Fakhoury.

What time will the game start?

9:30 am IST, today.

When was the last time Jordan played in the World Cup?

This will be their first-ever World Cup appearance.
