Agent Jorge Mendes gives his verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi GOAT debate

Mendes worked with Ronaldo for years as his agent.
According to Jorge Mendes, the former agent of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr hero “will always be the best player of all time”—better than Lionel Messi.
Even as Ronaldo and Messi near the end of their illustrious careers, the ongoing controversy over who should be named the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) in football continues to spark heated debates.
Ronaldo’s former agent Mendes thinks his countryman is the best player of all time, despite the fact that both players have thrived at the top of the game for the last 20 years and have one of the biggest rivalries on the European scene, sharing 13 Ballons d’Or titles between them.
Jorge Mendes commended Ronaldo’s incredible career and his unwavering quest for greatness in an interview with Tuttosport, saying:
“Cristiano continues to score goal after goal, break record after record and enjoy what he does so well. It’s not the first time I’ve said it, nor will it be the last: for me, he will always be the best player of all time in the history of football.”
Additionally, Mendes cited Ronaldo’s career as an example of ambitious football players, such as Lamine Yamal, the teenage sensation from Barcelona. The young Golden Boy winner was advised by the Portuguese agent, who currently represents Yamal, to follow Ronaldo’s focus, work ethic, and dedication in order to attain comparable success.
“I don’t like to make comparisons, but Cristiano is undoubtedly a good example to follow, not only for Lamine but for all young players. If he follows his example on and off the pitch, he will certainly be at the top of world football in the next 20 years,” he said.
Ronaldo’s impact as a football legend goes beyond his on-field accomplishments. His unwavering perseverance, intense training schedule, and capacity for adaptation over time have established a standard for upcoming generations. Mendes’ comments highlight Ronaldo’s influence as a role model for young players like Yamal and further cement his place in the GOAT discussion.
When will Cristiano Ronaldo be back in action for Al-Nassr?
Following the winter break in Saudi Arabia, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker is expected to return to action for his current side, Al-Nassr, with a league match scheduled for January 9 against Al-Akhdoud.
