The Dutch striker joined the Red Devils last summer

In his latest interview with the club, Joshua Zirkzee explained his celebration and what inspired him to celebrate that way whenever he scores a goal for Manchester United.

Ever since he made his competitive Reds debut with a game-winning goal at the Stretford End in the Premier League opener against Fulham, he has continued to celebrate by shooting imaginary weapons with both hands while taking in the occasion in front of the fans.

However,  what is the inspiration behind Joshua Zirkzee’s goal celebration?

This time, Joshua Zirkzee confirmed where his gun celebration has come from during an interview with the club.

Joshua Zirkzee was asked if it’s a reference to the movie Django Unchained, or if is it, as some have claimed, a parody of the celebration of legendary centre-forward Gabriel Batistuta.

“So the Django story is the accurate one,” explained by the no.11. “The Batistuta story is because it’s what I did in Italy, and it’s what he did in Italy as well. Maybe they said that I’m trying to copy him, but it’s not true.

“I admire Batistuta and it’s basically the same thing [that we both do]. But it’s not like I saw him do it and I wanted to do it because of him, do you know what I mean?”

“It’s from the scene where he [Christoph Waltz’s character] teaches Django to shoot on the snowman,” added Joshua Zirkzee.

“It’s the part where he’s practising shooting, so that’s where it came from. But over time, with emotions, you know when you score, you’re just happy… I just have to [do it].”

Waltz’s persona as Jamie Foxx’s character Django practices his precision by shooting at different areas of the snowman when the bounty hunter Dr. King Schulz is teaching him the skill of gunslinging.

Foxx was excellent in the lead part of a slave trying to save his wife, and Waltz won ‘Best Work by an Actor in a Supporting Part’ at the Oscars the following year for his work.
