The midfielder has 21 goals across all competitions this season
Jude Bellingham’s efforts in El Clasico have put him in the lead to win the most coveted individual award in football.
With his 91st-minute goal against arch-rivals Barcelona on Sunday night, the England star all but sealed a 36th La Liga title for Los Blancos.
With six games remaining before the league campaign ends, Real Madrid are currently 11 points ahead of the Catalan club.
And a big part of that can be attributed to Bellingham’s efforts and his great first season in Spain.
This summer, the 20-year-old moved from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid for a reported £115 million, and despite the staggering cost, he has appeared to be a great buy.
This season, in 36 games across all competitions, he has scored an incredible 21 goals and assisted on another 10.

In addition to winning the league handily, he has assisted Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad in securing a spot in the Champions League semifinal, where they will take on Bayern Munich.
He is currently seen as the FAVOURITE contender for the Ballon d’Or this year as a result of his incredible season.
Bellingham is favoured by William Hill to win the coveted prize and make history by being the first Englishman to receive the trophy after Michael Owen in 2001.
He’s ahead of other elite athletes who will need to improve if they want to catch up to Bellingham, who currently holds a virtual lock on the trophy. Harry Kane, Mbappe’s colleague from England, is third at 4/1, while Mbappe is the second favourite at 3/1.
In fact, with Phil Foden being in the race for the award at 7/1, England’s 23-year drought for a Ballon d’Or champion has a good chance of ending this year.
