The Spanish giants might look to cash in on Jules Kounde

Over the years, Paris Saint Germain have frequently sought their eyes on Barcelona players and their potential targets in the transfer market. With the arrival of Lucas Beraldo in the French capital in January, it was clear that Luis Enrique wanted his centre-back position to be revamped. 

There are more targets that the French club is eyeing for, one of them is Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. The defender joined the Blaugarana from Sevilla after rejecting an offer from Chelsea and has had a bag of mixed performances in Catalonia.

Considering their financial situation, Barcelona would be open to selling a few key players if a good offer comes to the desk. Kounde has been used as a right-back mostly by Xavi, and there have been reports of his unwillingness to play there. But, despite such rumours, the defender clarified by himself that he doesn’t intend to leave the club anytime soon.

Mundo Deportivo earlier reported that Chelsea, PSG and Manchester United are all interested in Jules Kounde as a priority signing in the summer. The Spanish club could look to sell players that have a market to bolster their transfer budget and improve their team.

Newcastle and Inter join the race

As per new reports, the trio who were pursuing the Barcelona defender as a priority signing are set to face stiff competition from Italian Champion Inter Milan and Newcastle United FC. 

PSG believes the player fits the profile they are looking for as he is French, in his prime, and probably doesn’t have a massive price tag. As many think, the Parisians are the front-runners to get his signature. The Red Devils want defensive reinforcements as their highest priority. They tried to lure him before as well from Sevilla.

As stated earlier FC Barcelona, whose financial troubles have been well-documented, would entertain offers for Kounde. And, the one who would bring the best offer financially would be considered by Laporta and the team.

However, Jules has been an integral part of the Xavi’s squad. The 25-year-old has made 44 appearances across all competitions. In that time, he has helped his side keep 16 clean sheets. He has also registered two goals. His deal with Barca expires in 2027.
