Jurgen Klopp eyes Formula 1 role as Red Bull expands his involvement: Reports

The German head coach is set to oversee the worldwide network of all Red Bull football teams.

Jurgen Klopp, the former manager of Liverpool, may switch from football to Formula One with his new Red Bull allegiance.

After nearly nine years as coach at Anfield, where he won almost every title with the Reds, Klopp left the club at the end of the 2023–24 campaign. The German was announced as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, his first non-coaching role since 2000, as revealed in October.

As Global Head of Soccer, Jurgen Klopp will take charge of all Red Bull football clubs across the globe, including the New York Red Bulls, Leipzig, and Salzburg. He is required to help the teams with coaching matters, playing philosophy, and development in addition to regularly taking part in player and head coach transfers. According to recent reports, he might also be involved with their Formula One setup.

Red Bull Racing consultant Helmut Marko has called the selection of the former Liverpool manager “sensational” and spoke about how much he would “love” to introduce Jurgen Klopp to the team.

Through the Mail, Marko stated,

“I just don’t know how he wants to combine it all, these different continents and the like. But since football is very important to us, I think that was the best move that could have been made.”

“I knew already for quite a long time that they were talking and it was close to being signed,” Verstappen told Sky Sports.

On January 1, Jurgen Klopp will formally start the next phase in his illustrious career with Red Bull.

Red Bull prodigy and four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen praised Klopp’s hiring as “great for the whole organization” after it was announced.

“I think it’s great. Red Bull is investing a lot also in football with the teams they have and there is a lot of talent that has come through already.

“With someone like Jurgen in charge from the top, he has a lot of experience, and he has managed a lot of great clubs. It’s great for the whole organization.”
