Juventus' all transfers completed so far in 2024-25
The Old Lady are set to commence a new club era under Italian manager Thiago Motta.
In order to prepare for the upcoming 2024–25 football season, Italian giants Juventus are in the middle of their Europe-themed pre-season tour this summer.
Last season, Juventus finished third in the Serie A and clinched the Italian Cup. Despite a respectable club campaign, the Juventus hierarchy decided to part ways with former manager Massimiliano Allegri this summer. In order to guide the club towards a successful long-term project, Thiago Motta was appointed as the new first-team head coach on a three-year contract.
In order to return to the pinnacle of domestic and European football, Juventus have already completed substantial business this summer in an attempt to bolster the squad.
This includes the big-money signing of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa earlier in the transfer window. In the 2023-24 season, Luiz made a staggering 53 appearances across all competitions, recording an incredible 10 goals and 10 assists in the process.
His stellar performances guided Aston Villa to a top-four finish in the Premier League, coupled with an impressive semifinal run in the UEFA Conference League. In addition, Douglas Luiz was also a part of Brazil’s final squad for Copa America 2024.
The Old Lady also struck one of the best deals of the summer as they signed talented French midfielder Khéphren Thuram from OGC Nice for a bargain price. This was followed by yet another shrewd recruitment in the form of versatile left-back Juan Cabal from fellow Italian side Hellas Verona.
With Thiago Motta viewing experienced goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny as not ideal for his desired playing style, Juventus made the smart loan signing of talented Italian shot-stopper Michele Di Gregorio from Monza. Di Gregorio was one of the best goalkeepers in the Serie A last season as he registered an impressive 14 clean sheets in 33 league appearances.
The Italian giants are also currently in concrete talks with Atalanta BC and OGC Nice for the potential signings of Teun Koopmeiners and Jean-Clair Todibo respectively.
On the other hand, Juventus have also offloaded several players this summer in order to create much-needed space both in the squad and wage structure for potential transfer targets.
The biggest departures of the transfer window so far for the Old Lady have been the sales of their talented academy products Matías Soulé and Dean Huijsen to AS Roma and AFC Bournemouth respectively, for a combined deal worth over €40 million.
As a part of Douglas Luiz’s swap deal move to the club, the talented duo of Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea have joined Aston Villa in the opposite direction on long-term contracts.
Highly rated prospects such as Kaio Jorge and Koni De Winter have also been sold this summer to Cruzeiro and Genoa respectively, in order to generate additional funds. In addition, striker Moise Kean also secured a permanent move to Fiorentina.
The experienced duo of Adrien Rabiot and Alex Sandro are still available on the market as free agents following the expiration of their respective contracts at Juventus.
Versatile midfielder Carlos Alcaraz has returned to his parent club Southampton owing to the expiration of his loan deal at the end of the season.
With Juventus far from done in terms of improving their overall team, further potential incomings and outgoings are expected in the remainder of the summer transfer window.
