The Frenchman doesn’t want to operate as a striker at Los Blancos.
Kylian Mbappe is now growing frustrated with his role at Real Madrid as the forward once again looked poor in front of the goal against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Mbappe is furious with his position at the club as he doesn’t see himself playing as a striker for Los Blancos in the future. Mbappe wants to operate on the left wing which has already been occupied by Vinicius Junior.
In Real Madrid’s 3-1 loss to AC Milan, Kylian Mbappe’s problems persisted, prompting demands for Carlo Ancelotti to bench the attacker.
With just one goal in his last six appearances across all competitions, Mbappe’s goalless streak now stands at three games as AC Milan easily defeated Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Despite registering eight shots and being dangerous, the 25-year-old lost possession eight times and was unable to put the ball past Mike Maignan. The loss follows Mbappe’s lacklustre performance in the team’s 4-0 El Clasico loss to FC Barcelona.
In a recent statement, Real Madrid former striker Karim Benzema expressed his opinions about Mbappe playing as the team’s central No. 9. He said that his countryman’s best position is on the left, but he won’t replace Vinicius Junior in that capacity.
“The problem, in my opinion, is that (Mbappe) is not a central striker, even with the national team, every time he plays as a number nine he doesn’t feel right, because that’s not his position,” Benzema told Spanish television show El Chiringuito late Monday.
“On the left, he’s got a guy who’s at the same level as him, Vinicius, so there is a problem, you can’t play Vinicius as a number nine or on the right, because when he plays on the left he makes the difference in every game.
“Mbappe isn’t a real number nine. People ask a lot of him and he’s under a lot of pressure, this isn’t Paris Saint-Germain.”
It’s a very unlikely scenario that Mbappe will play on the left given Vinicius will continue to occupy that spot. Mbappe won’t have any option and will have to continue playing as a striker.
