The Frenchman was in doubt for the Champions League game due to an injury.

With Kylian Mbappe chosen in Real Madrid’s roster to play Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, Xabi Alonso has taken a huge risk. The manager has used his powerful weapon in the struggle to keep his position at the club.

The Frenchman, who has been the team’s lucky charm this season, missed Tuesday’s training session. It raised questions about the forward’s availability for selection.

Fans became even more alarmed when Cadena Cope, a Spanish radio station, revealed that Kylian Mbappe has an issue with his left leg. However, Real took action to allay the doubts by adding him to the official matchday roster, guaranteeing that he will at least be in the dugout on Wednesday at the Bernabeu.

Throughout the 2025–2026 season, Kylian Mbappe has been Madrid’s lifeblood. With 25 goals in all competitions and four assists in the Champions League, he is on pace to break Cristiano Ronaldo’s club record of 69 goals in a calendar year.

He has accounted for half of Madrid’s goals in LaLiga and an almost unbelievable 75% in Europe. His four-goal brilliance against Olympiacos in his most recent Champions League match demonstrated both his skill and Madrid’s reliance on him.

Xabi Alonso’s decision to expedite Kylian Mbappe’s inclusion in the squad coincides with a period of severe scrutiny over his own job. Madrid’s disastrous 2-0 home loss to Celta Vigo on Sunday cemented a dismal streak of just two victories in seven games across all competitions.

Alvaro Carreras and Fran García received two of the three red cards shown in the game. Moreover, centre-back Eder Militao suffered a significant muscular injury that could keep him out for up to four months.

Which injury did Kylian Mbappe suffer?

He suffered an injury on his left leg.

Will he play tonight?

It remains to be seen.

How many goals has he scored this season?

He has 16 goals in LaLiga this season.
