The French star’s mother reveals that the forward has suffered a lot due to the public spotlight.

“It saddens me,” Kylian Mbappe’s mother said, revealing the toll that stardom has taken on the French footballer in the past few years.

At the age of 18, the superstar came into the spotlight by scoring two goals against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. He launched himself to stardom while still playing for AS Monaco.

Kylian Mbappe, who had already drawn comparisons to the legendary Thierry Henry, was leading his nation at the World Cup in Russia a year later. His place among the top forwards in the world was cemented with a goal in the tournament final as France emerged victorious.

After seven successful years at Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe finally secured his ideal move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024. It came in a free transfer.

Despite having a rough start to life at the Spanish club, he has scored an incredible 58 goals in 69 games for Los Blancos.

Mbappe’s mother speaks on the forward’s life struggles

Since joining what is perhaps the largest club in the world, the 26-year-old’s mother, Fayza Lamari, has now spoken out about her son’s battles with loneliness.

Additionally, Fayza Lamari disclosed the exact moment she realised Kylian Mbappe was “slipping away” from fame.

“During the 2018 World Cup, I was home along. When I saw him walking down the Champs-Elysees, I knew he was slipping away. I called him Justin Bieber because he went straight from Bondy to the Royal Monceau. I felt like he I was in a movie.”
