Kylian Mbappe takes PSG to LFP disciplinary committee over €55m in unpaid wages & bonuses

The French star joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024
In a disagreement over €55 million in overdue salary and bonuses, France star Kylian Mbappe has reported Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to the French league’s (LFP) disciplinary committee, an insider close to the LFP told AFP. The matter will be heard at a hearing on December 11.
PSG’s unwillingness to pay the cash, citing Kylian Mbappe’s August 2023 agreement to waive it, is the root of the dispute. The player made public reference to this arrangement in January, but Mbappe’s management contests its legality.
After Mbappe’s deal with PSG ended in June, the French champions were left without a transfer fee as he headed to Real Madrid. PSG contended that if Mbappe departed on a free move at the completion of the 2023–2024 season, he would forfeit the €55 million in incentives under the terms of the August deal.
PSG were ordered to pay the overdue sum by the LFP in October, but the club refused. PSG’s petition to have the order reconsidered was denied by the French Football Federation (FFF) last month, citing the fact that the request was submitted one day late.
PSG could face a fine or a transfer ban due to Kylian Mbappe unpaid wage dispute
PSG may be subject to penalties under LFP rules, such as a fine or a transfer ban. PSG are still certain, nevertheless, that the issue may go to an industrial tribunal because the LFP lacks ultimate jurisdiction.
The disagreement started when Kylian Mbappe declined to extend his contract in August 2022, which caused PSG to temporarily bench him. Mbappe eventually left as a free agent, rekindling the financial dispute, although the extension would have given PSG the opportunity to obtain a transfer price.
The forthcoming hearing will be crucial in deciding whether PSG must complete the financial obligation or whether the issue will take a different legal turn as tensions increase.
They could be fined or prohibited from acquiring new players in accordance with league regulations. PSG anticipate that the matter will ultimately be heard by an industrial tribunal, nonetheless. Mbappe is focused on obtaining what he feels is rightfully his. PSG are concerned with safeguarding their financial interests, reports suggest.
