Lamine Yamal dreams of facing Lionel Messi in Finalissima 2025

Barcelona prodigy hopes to face ex-Blaugrana player and legend in Finalissima.
Lamine Yamal has made no secret of facing his inspiration Lionel Messi in the Finalissima 2025. If Spain win Euro 2024 and Argentina prevail in Copa America 2024, we will see the future of Barcelona and the former player turned legend share the same pitch for the first time.
Argentina faced Italy in Finalissima in 2022, after they won the Copa America in 2021 and Italy triumphed in the Euros in 2021. Lionel Scaloni’s side eased past Italy with a 3-0 win, and now they have another chance to win the Copa America in succession when they face Colombia in the final on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Yamal will play his first-ever final of a major tournament for his national team and will hope to guide Spain to the Euro 2024 trophy against England. The Barcelona star who celebrated his birthday today having turned 17 has been sensational in the competition, with four assists and a goal.
Ever since Yamal broke through to the senior team of Barcelona, he has been beaming with excellent performances, and his exploits have seen him compared to one of the Barcelona greats, Lionel Messi. Both could face each other if they help their respective nations win the trophy.
Yamal said in an interview ahead of the England game: “I hope Messi wins the Copa America and I win EURO 2024 so I can play against him in the Finalissima,” said the Barcelona youngster, as quoted by RAC1.
It will be a dream for many Barcelona fans to watch two players take the pitch: one who left like a legend and the other one who could become one.
While Yamal and Messi both possess inherent skills, it is clear that their playing styles are different. Despite this, Yamal, who is only 17 years old, has demonstrated his talent and what he can accomplish for his country and club.
Messi left Barcelona in an unpleasant situation, despite his accomplishments with the club. Yamal is undoubtedly regarded as Barcelona’s next great talent. He is without a doubt gifted. What more could you ask from a 17-year-old?
His ascent to prominence has been gradual, and most of the credit for that goes to his performance, as he showed his quality at Barcelona and has now further solidified his place among the game’s top young players at Euro 2024.
