Lamine Yamal & Jude Bellingham among top five most searched athletes in UK in 2024

Both players are an integral part of their respective clubs.

Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid and Lamine Yamal, a sensation from Barcelona, are two of the top five most-Googled sportsmen in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2024.

After performing in important games for club and nation in 2024, Bellingham and Yamal have both been making waves in the football world. In his first full season at Santiago Bernabeu, Bellingham won both LaLiga and the Champions League, while Yamal solidified his spot in Barcelona’s starting lineup and was instrumental in Spain’s success in the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

As a result, the pair has become extremely popular, ranking among the top five athletes based in the UK in Google searches. Bellingham is in fourth place, below gymnast Simone Biles but overtaking Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, while Yamal comes in second, behind darts superstar Luke Littler.

Additionally, Yamal is among the top three athletes in the world by Google searches. Olympic boxer Imane Khelif topped the list, followed by Mike Tyson. Before Biles and Jake Paul, Yamal came in third. Even though the Barcelona player only turned 17 in July, he already seems to be headed for stardom.

Although he is quite young, he has frequently been compared to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. At the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards, he was awarded the world’s finest young player.

Lamine Yamal’s ranking in the Ballon d’Or was ninth as well. He is the youngest applicant for the coveted Golden Ball, having entered at the age of 17. After Vinicius Jr. and winner Rodri, Jude Bellingham came in third.

This season, the two athletes will be striving for more success. Real Madrid and Barcelona are only two points apart at the top of the Spanish league table, and both teams are predicted to advance further in the Champions League. Yamal and Bellingham appear to be in the running for the 2025 Ballon d’Or as well.
